On July 15th, G2 Ops graduated from the two-year Virginia Leaders in Export Trade (VALET) program, a state program designed to assist Virginia-based companies in expanding into international markets. G2 Ops was one of 25 businesses chosen in 2013 to participate.
The VALET program, which is sponsored by the Commonwealth of Virginia, provided G2 Ops with professional resources to improve international business marketing skills, access to international banking experts, and development of an international trade compliance program to satisfy International Traffic and Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR) requirements. ITAR and EAR are United States export control laws that affect the manufacturing, sales and distribution of technology.
While participating in VALET, G2 was able to offer its services on best practices in the delivery of online education and massive open online courses (MOOCs) to various universities. The VALET team researched, planned, and facilitated liaisons between G2 and several international educational organizations. The program was capped off with a trade mission to London, during which the team met with Proversity, Future Learn Ltd, BBC Academy, Anglia Ruskin University, and Royal Holloway University of London. G2 also met with Lord Jim Knight, Managing Director at TES Global Ltd, and Visiting Professor at the London Knowledge Lab, part of the Institute of Education at University College London.
G2’s success with VALET goes well beyond international sales. Since entering the program in the summer of 2013, G2 Ops has expanded by incorporating a second company, G2 Ops Global, Inc., a professional services firm focused on commercial, city and state government clients providing Model-Based Cyber Engineering, Model-Based Systems Engineering and Strategic Consulting services. G2 Global has successfully completed projects for Old Dominion University, Oral Roberts University, and Eastern Virginia Medical School.
G2 Ops is grateful to the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) and its high caliber staff. We are fortunate Virginia provides resources and services to enable international expansion. Governor Terry McAuliffe spoke at the 2013 VALET Class graduation ceremony that was held at the Omni Hotel in Richmond on July 15th. Governor McAuliffe also announced a new initiative, the Virginia International Trade Alliance (VITAL). VITAL expands the Commonwealth’s nationally recognized international trade program via formal partnerships with Virginia’s public universities, industry associations and the Virginia Chamber of Commerce to serve their member companies as they expand international sales.
